SupportAssist is available as a part of the OpenManage Essentials (OME) Installer and as a standalone version (if OME is installed already).

2. Installation

Installation via SupportAssist OME-Installer

We recommend starting the Installer with elevated rights. Rightclick and choose "Run as administrator".

  1. Run the Installer.

  2. Select Dell SupportAssist and click Install.

  3. Read the information on the first screen carefully then click Next.

    Make sure that your firewall doesn't block port 443. This information is also provided on the first screen of the setup routine.


  4. Read and agree the License Agreement. There are two agreements, with the first you allow Dell to save your personally identifiable information. With the second you agree the terms of the License Agreement.

  5. Complete the form to receive status updates.



    • Company Name – Must be between 1 and 256 characters.
    • Country/Territory – Choose the country where the system resides.
    • First Name – The First Name can contain letters, quotation marks ("), dots and spaces, and must not be longer than 50 characters.
    • Last Name – The Last Name can contain letters, quotation marks ("), dots and spaces, and must not be longer than 50 characters.
    • Phone Number – Must be at least 10 characters long, but not more than 50.
    • Alternate Phone Number – (Optional) Same restrictions as shown on Phone Number.
    • Email Address – Insert the adresse in the form of name@company.com. The address must be at least 5 and at most 50 characters long.
    • Preferred Email Language – Choose the preferred language for Emails.
    • Receive case information through email upon case generation – (Recommended) Check this option if you wish to be informed via Email in the case a service request is opened.

    You can edit the contact information after you have installed SupportAssist. If the primary contact information is no longer valid, Dell will contact you via the secondary contact information. If both are valid, both addresses get the email notifications.
  6. Click Install.

    The default installation path for 64bit systems is C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell\Dell Integrated Support\ and C:\Program Files\Dell\Dell Integrated Support\ on 32bit systems.

  7. The following tools will be installed in the background:
    • Dell System E-Support Tool (DSET) – Logging-Tool for Dell PowerEdge, Dell PowerVault NX Storage Server and iDRAC7 systems.
    • Dell Lasso – Logging-Tool for Dell PowerVault, Dell EqualLogic, Dell Chassis Management Controller (CMC), Dell Force10, Dell PowerConnect, Blade Server Chassis and PowerVault MD series.

    SupportAssist utilizes DSET and Lasso to work properly. If you cancel the DSET and/or Lasso installation the SupportAssist installation will also be canceled!
  8. To complete the installation, click Finish.
    The SupportAssist client will now open in the web browser and view the initial setup. The client will register with the Support Assist Dell servers and send you a registration confirmation via email.
